Taiwan's Stance: Presidential Office Addresses Trump's Comments on

Following recent remarks by US President Donald Trump regarding US-China trade negotiations, which included a comment on "unification and peace" if China were to open its markets, the Presidential Office in Taiwan has issued a statement.

Presidential Office spokesperson, Kuo Ya-hui, stated on the 13th that the U.S. Department of State has clarified that President Trump's remarks were related to US-China trade and do not concern Taiwan. The statement further indicates that, based on Taiwan's understanding, the ongoing US-China trade negotiations do not involve issues related to Taiwan.

Trump's comments highlighted the perceived imbalance in market access between the United States and China. He suggested that if China were to open its markets more fully, it would lead to "unification and peace."

In response to the evolving international landscape, Kuo Ya-hui emphasized the government's commitment to closely monitoring the situation and its resolve to address challenges with stability. The public was assured of the government's continued efforts.
