Mother's Day Mayhem in Keelung: Steel Pellets Shatter Windows in Residential Shooting

A disturbing incident unfolded in the Shanhai View community of Zhongzheng District, Keelung City, on May 11th. A 51-year-old woman, Ms. Li, returned home to find her balcony windows shattered, displaying spiderweb-like cracks and circular bullet holes. The police investigation confirmed the windows had been struck by steel pellets from a gas-powered gun. Fortunately, no one was inside the home at the time of the attack, and only the windows suffered damage.

According to reports, Ms. Li lives with two pet dogs. Her son stated that his mother suffers from social anxiety, and the incident has caused her significant psychological distress. She expressed concerns about her safety, saying "It’s not safe at home," and worried about the potential consequences if she had been injured. The family suspects the incident may be related to a previous dispute with a neighbor concerning the dogs. This dispute led to a fine of over NT$70,000 for the family.

The police have identified a suspect and are working to bring them in for questioning. They plan to proceed according to the Social Order Maintenance Act. The case remains under investigation.
