Taiwan's Weather Rollercoaster: Heavy Rain in the South, Then Afternoon Thunderstorms!

The weather in Taiwan is experiencing some dramatic shifts. With the frontal system gradually moving south, southern regions and Taitung are still facing significant rainfall. Meanwhile, areas north of central Taiwan are transitioning from scattered showers to cloudier conditions with temperatures gradually increasing. Meteorologist Liu Pei-teng from the Central Weather Administration forecasts that starting Tuesday, afternoon thunderstorms will become the dominant weather pattern. By Wednesday, these afternoon rain zones are expected to expand, and temperatures could reach up to 30 degrees Celsius, signaling the approach of summer.

The frontal system continues to shift south today, with rainfall in northern Taiwan expected to ease off from this evening. On Tuesday (May 12th), the south and Taitung will still experience heavy rainfall, which is expected to diminish in the afternoon. The central and northern regions will change from sporadic showers to mostly cloudy skies, with occasional glimpses of sunshine. Following the frontal system's movement to the Bashi Channel and eastward, the island will be under the influence of stable, dry air.
