Former NTU Hospital Doctor Resigns Following Conviction for Sexual Assault in Taiwan

A former resident doctor from National Taiwan University Hospital (NTU) resigned from a clinic in Taoyuan after being convicted of sexually assaulting a patient and the details became public.

A former obstetrics and gynecology resident from National Taiwan University Hospital (NTU), identified as Dr. Huang, resigned from a clinic in Taoyuan, Taiwan, following the revelation of his conviction for sexual assault.

The incident occurred in June 2021 when Dr. Huang, during an emergency room shift, used the pretense of a "sexual response test" to sexually assault a young female patient. The Taipei District Court sentenced him to three years in prison for the crime.

Investigations by the Taoyuan City Health Bureau revealed that Dr. Huang had been practicing at a private obstetrics clinic in the Bade District of Taoyuan for three years, from April 2022 until recently. His reputation among patients was mixed.

Despite his conviction, Dr. Huang continued to practice at the clinic until the case was exposed by local media on Mother's Day. He subsequently resigned the following day.

It has been reported that Dr. Huang hired a team of three lawyers to defend him after being accused of sexually assaulting the patient. After his conviction, he did not inform the clinic of the verdict and continued seeing patients until the case was reported.

After the incident at NTU Hospital, Dr. Huang allegedly faced complaints of sexual harassment, but was still able to complete his training and move to the clinic in Taoyuan. Some patients shared their experiences online, with opinions varying. Some expressed positive experiences, while others shared negative encounters.
