According to authorities, the two men, believed to be Masamichi Harada and Kitani Akinobu, both 76 and residents of Ube, went fishing around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. When the boat failed to return, the coast guard was alerted, launching a search that continued throughout the night.
The capsized vessel was located approximately 2.5 kilometers from Kawashiri Cape in Nagato. One man was found near the overturned boat, while the other was discovered in the water southwest of the boat's position. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
