Missing Millions in Taiwan: Vietnamese Worker's Lost Fortune Raises Eyebrows

A Vietnamese migrant worker, identified as Mr. Hu, recently experienced a startling incident on the Taiwan Railways (TRA). He accidentally left a bag containing a significant sum of money, approximately 4 million New Taiwan Dollars (NTD), on a commuter train. The train conductor, after being alerted, helped locate the lost bag.

Initially, Mr. Hu and a man who identified himself as his "brother-in-law" attempted to retrieve the money. Their explanation: the money was intended to pay the "brother-in-law" for his salary. However, subsequent police investigations revealed that the Vietnamese wife of the "brother-in-law" and Mr. Hu are not actually related. The term "brother-in-law" was simply a term of endearment, raising questions about the true purpose of the 4 million NTD.

According to the TRA and railway police, Mr. Hu lost the bag on the 3258 local train. After realizing his mistake, he reported it to the service desk at Tainan Station. TRA staff, after being informed, notified the train conductor, who searched and found the black handbag in the second carriage. Inside the bag, they found the substantial amount of cash, all of which were older banknotes.
