Fiery Confrontation: Shen Ching-ching Refuses to Sign Statements, Prosecutor Unleashes Accusations in Taipei Court

A dramatic courtroom exchange unfolded in Taipei today during the trial concerning Ko Wen-je, the former chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, and allegations of corruption related to the Miramar group. The focus of the dispute centered on the testimony of Shen Ching-ching, the chairman of the Miramar Group, who was brought to court from detention.

The crux of the disagreement stemmed from the interpretation of investigative records, specifically how facial expressions were noted. Shen and his legal team contested the subjective inclusion of "parenthetical" descriptions of expressions within the record, arguing that this could influence the judge's judgment.

The prosecutor, Jiang Chang-zhi, reacted strongly to Shen's narrative, accusing him of distorting the facts, and directly confronting him with the words, "You're talking nonsense."

In a heated response, Shen, questioning Jiang's involvement in the original interrogation, countered, "By what right do you accuse me of talking nonsense?" He further challenged Jiang, asking, "Were you the one who asked the questions that day?" The courtroom atmosphere quickly escalated, becoming highly charged.
