Severe Weather Disrupts Travel: The Central Cross-Island Highway (Taiwan) Experiences Closure Due to Landslide
Heavy Rainfall Triggers Landslide, Disrupting Traffic on Taiwan's Central Cross-Island Highway

Heavy rainfall, attributed to a weather front and developing convective cloud systems, has prompted the Central Weather Administration to issue heavy rain alerts for multiple counties in Taiwan. The most significant impact is on Provincial Highway 8 (台8線), specifically at the 109.8K marker near the west entrance of the Hehuanshan Tunnel (合歡隧道). A landslide occurred earlier today, causing a complete blockage of the road.

As a result, traffic between Dayuling (大禹嶺) and Lishan (梨山) is currently impassable. The Guguan Engineering Office (谷關工務段) has dispatched heavy machinery to the site to clear the debris and restore traffic flow as quickly as possible. Authorities are advising travelers to avoid the area until the road is reopened.
