TAOYUAN, TAIWAN - A late-night traffic stop in Taoyuan led to the arrest of a wanted man and the discovery of illegal substances and a weapon, showcasing the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to maintain order and safety.

The incident unfolded when police officers from the Taoyuan Police Department, acting as part of "Thunderbolt Crime Prevention" operations, stopped a BMW for illegal parking. The driver, a 31-year-old man identified as Mr. Zeng, appeared nervous during the interaction. When questioned, he initially attempted to impersonate his brother, but officers quickly recognized inconsistencies and determined his true identity.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Zeng was a wanted individual. The police immediately apprehended him and began a thorough search of the vehicle. This revealed a stash of ketamine, classified as a Schedule III drug, along with a baton on the floor of the car. The police have referred the case to the relevant authorities for further legal action.

The stop occurred in the Fuxing Road area of Taoyuan around 9:30 PM. Two passengers, a 26-year-old man (Mr. Zeng) and a 22-year-old man (Mr. Jian), were also in the vehicle and appeared uneasy. The officers, sensing something amiss, called for backup and subsequently apprehended all three individuals.

The Taoyuan Police Department conducted the operation with the support of the Security Police Brigade, the Traffic Police Brigade, and the Criminal Investigation Brigade. This collaboration led to the inspection of high-risk locations such as hotels, KTVs, and entertainment venues, as well as the establishment of ten road checkpoints. The operation resulted in the apprehension of 8 individuals wanted on outstanding warrants, 5 drug-related cases, 5 fraud cases, and 1 general criminal case, demonstrating the effectiveness of the police's proactive approach.
