Mountain Climber Injured on Jiayang Mountain in Taiwan: Rescue Operation Underway

A mountain climbing expedition in the Heping District of Taichung, Taiwan, took a turn when a 61-year-old male climber fell from a slope while ascending Jiayang Mountain. The incident prompted an immediate response from local authorities and the swift deployment of rescue services.

The accident occurred during a trek undertaken by a group of four individuals. The injured climber suffered head trauma and suspected fractures to his left arm and ribs, rendering him immobile. Promptly after the accident, an emergency call was placed to the police.

Upon receiving the report at 04:35 (presumably local time on the day of the incident), the Taichung City Fire Department dispatched a mountain search and rescue team. An air rescue helicopter was also requested to provide critical support. Coordination involved the National Police Agency, the Forestry Bureau's Taichung division, the 7th Special Police Corps, and the Xueba National Park Headquarters.

The rescue team, led by a team leader named Yao Yong, arrived at the scene via helicopter at approximately 10:30. They then hiked to the location of the injured climber. After providing initial medical assistance, including wound care, the team prepared the injured individual for extraction.

The air rescue operation was successfully completed around 14:50, with the climber being lifted to safety by a Black Hawk helicopter. The helicopter landed at Dongshi Riverside Park at 15:22, where the injured climber, who was conscious, was transferred to an ambulance and transported to the Dongshi Farmers Hospital for further treatment. The injured climber was identified as Mr. Lin.
