In the early hours of October 25th, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old female motorcyclist. Officers from the Zuoying Precinct of the Kaohsiung Police Department initiated pursuit after observing the rider commit two traffic violations by running red lights. When signaled to stop, the rider failed to comply, leading to a chase that extended into the Nanzih District.

During the pursuit, the rider reportedly violated several traffic regulations, including further red light violations, erratic maneuvers, and utilizing the innermost lane. The chase concluded when the rider collided with an object on Houchangxin Road in Nanzih. Emergency services were immediately dispatched, and the rider was transported to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save her, the rider succumbed to her injuries, including broken ribs, at 6:45 AM.

Following the incident, the Zuoying Precinct has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased. Police officials have engaged with the family, providing explanations of the events and assuring them of their support during this difficult time. An investigation is underway to determine the precise sequence of events and assign responsibility. This includes a thorough review of dashcam footage and surveillance video recordings from the area. The investigation has been referred to the Qiaotou District Prosecutors Office to ensure transparency and impartiality.
