Unruly Passenger Assaults Taiwan Railways Conductor: Incident Sparks Outrage

A disturbing incident aboard a Taiwan Railways (台鐵) train has led to a passenger facing legal repercussions after assaulting a conductor. The incident unfolded on a train originating in Taitung (台東).

The conflict began when fellow passengers complained about the man's loud mobile phone use. After the conductor intervened twice, requesting the passenger to disembark at Yuli Station (玉里站). However, the Yuli police declined to remove the individual, allowing him to remain on the train. This decision appears to have fueled the passenger's resentment.

Subsequently, the passenger harassed and attacked the conductor. The aggressor threw five mobile phones, attempted to push the conductor at a doorway, and ultimately struck the conductor, dislodging their glasses. The assault occurred as the train was en route to Hualien Station (花蓮站), where the conductor reported the incident to the Hualien police, leading to the passenger's forced removal.
