Power Outage in Hualien Affects Thousands: Taipower Addresses the Issue

Residents of Xincheng and Xiulin townships in Hualien, Taiwan, experienced multiple power outages early this morning, prompting complaints from residents who were awakened by the heat. Taipower, the state-owned power company, attributed the disruptions to a malfunction in the power protection equipment at a substation. The outages affected over 9,500 households.

After implementing power redistribution measures, full power restoration was completed approximately 40 minutes later.

Complaints from residents arose in the early hours, with concerns about the repeated outages in Xincheng township. Many expressed frustration at being unable to sleep due to the heat and worried about the spoilage of refrigerated goods. Representative Fu Wei-hao received numerous complaints, and after contacting Taipower, it was confirmed that the issue stemmed from a high-voltage power incident within the substation.
