Trade Tensions Bite: U.S. West Coast Ports See Zero Chinese Cargo Ships

The escalating trade war between the United States and China is rapidly producing visible effects. According to a report from CNN, on May 9th, major West Coast ports in the United States experienced a highly unusual situation: not a single cargo ship from China docked. This marks the first "zero" record since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles have entered a state of heightened alert. Dockworkers are even humorously described as having an early start to their "summer vacation."

Just six days prior, 41 cargo ships were scheduled to depart from China. Now, all of them have been canceled, representing a stronger impact than anticipated. CNN described the scenes at the ports as "even quieter than during the pandemic."
