Bribery Allegations Rock Taiwan's Political Landscape: Key Figure Admits to Paying Off Party

A significant development has emerged in the ongoing investigation into the "Kyoka City" case, shaking the foundations of Taiwan's political scene. At a recent court hearing, Chu Ya-hu, former chairman of Dingyue Development, admitted to bribing the Taiwan People's Party with NT$2.1 million. The funds were channeled through seven individuals, allegedly at the behest of the Weijing Group, to secure the reinstatement of 120,284.39 square meters of floor area for the former "Kyoka City" development. "I did the bribing, I plead guilty," Chu Ya-hu stated, adding, "This represents my original intention, my repentance."

Chu Ya-hu's testimony has brought renewed scrutiny to the case involving the former Taiwan People's Party chairman, Ko Wen-je. Chu Ya-hu, upon leaving the court, offered only a respectful bow to the media but did not make any further comments. Chen Pei-chi, the wife of Ko Wen-je, was also present at the hearing and was seen with tears in her eyes as she left the courtroom.

This development underscores the complex legal and political challenges currently facing Taiwan and highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in governmental affairs.
