Gas Leak Incident Disrupts Area Near Kaohsiung High-Speed Rail in Taiwan

Several reports of a strong gas smell were received this morning, (November 13th) in the area surrounding the Zuoying High-Speed Rail station in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, causing some concern among residents. According to the Kaohsiung City Fire Department, the source of the odor was identified as a leak at the Xingo Gas Company's natural gas station in Nanzi.

The leak originated from a pressure gauge head for a brominating agent. Xingo Gas Company personnel promptly took action and shut down the leak. The incident prompted numerous calls to emergency services, including reports of a strong gas smell at a building on Minzu 1st Road and from pedestrians along Xiahai South Street in Renwu District.

Online, several residents reported experiencing the smell throughout the area, from the High-Speed Rail station to Zuoying Main Road. The Fire Department responded with three vehicles and a team of six personnel. The situation is now under the control of Xingo Gas Company and the Bureau of Economic Development. No injuries were reported.
