Uber Driver's Shocking Abandonment: 13-Year-Old Girl Left Crying Under a Taipei Bridge

In a disturbing event that has shaken Taipei, an Uber driver is under fire for abandoning a 13-year-old girl after demanding an exorbitant tip. The incident occurred when a parent in Taipei City booked an Uber to transport their child to school. The driver, however, reportedly stopped the ride mid-journey and demanded an additional NT$500 tip.

According to reports, the driver's initial behavior was already problematic. Despite the parent's agreement to pay the tip to ensure the child's safety, the driver abruptly ejected the girl from the vehicle after only two minutes. The terrified girl, stranded without money, was left crying under the Mai Shuai Bridge in Songshan District.

The parent expressed their outrage, stating that the driver did not indicate any issues with completing the trip beforehand and refused to communicate afterwards, leading to the daughter's significant lateness for school. The parent condemned the driver's actions as utterly irresponsible.

Uber's platform has responded by offering a refund and launching an internal investigation. The company has stated that the driver faces suspension if found to have violated company policies. Legal experts suggest that the driver's actions could potentially constitute abandonment, with the potential for more severe penalties given the age of the child.
