Lost & Found: Taiwanese Police Reunite Disoriented Elderly Man with Family

A heartwarming story unfolds in Taipei, Taiwan, where the swift action of local police brought a sense of relief to a family in distress.

An elderly man, Mr. Wang, who is battling dementia, accompanied his wife to the Guandu Hospital in Beitou for her medical appointment. While his wife was seeing the doctor, Mr. Wang decided to have a meal nearby. However, after his wife's appointment concluded, he could not be found, leading the family to report him missing.

The Guandu Police Station immediately mobilized its officers. Within an hour, despite the high midday temperatures, the police, under the leadership of the station chief, Li Chang-you, and with the help of officer Guo Nian-ci, located Mr. Wang on Zhi-xing Road. He appeared disoriented and confused.

The police brought Mr. Wang back to the station and contacted his family, who were overjoyed to be reunited with their loved one. The family expressed their deep gratitude to the officers.

The Beitou Police Precinct is reminding the public that if they have elderly family members with dementia, it's important to take precautions. This includes having them wear identifying accessories, sewing contact information on their clothing, and considering having them fingerprinted at the police station. This is designed to ensure quick identification and the speedy return of lost individuals.
