Key Figure in "Death Petition" Case Freed: Huang Lu Jin Ru Walks Free, Met by Zhu Lilun

In a developing story from Taiwan, Huang Lu Jin Ru, the chair of the Kuomintang (KMT) Taipei City Party, was released without bail early this morning by the Taipei District Court. This follows an investigation into alleged fraudulent signatures related to a recall campaign, often referred to as the "death petition" case.

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office is investigating the case, focusing on signatures allegedly forged during efforts to recall Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislators Wu Si-yao and Wu Pei-yi. Prosecutors scrutinized seized mobile phones and compared testimonies, concluding that Huang Lu Jin Ru was a key orchestrator of the operation. Yesterday, Huang Lu Jin Ru, along with the Taipei City Party Secretary-General Chu Wen-ching, General Manager Yao Fu-wen, and First District Party Executive Director Tseng Fan-chuan, were questioned after a search and detention. Prosecutors, after overnight questioning, sought their detention, citing concerns over evidence tampering, on charges including forgery and violations of the Personal Data Protection Act.

Upon her release around 5 AM, volunteers who had stayed overnight to support her rushed to embrace her. KMT Chairman Zhu Lilun was also present at the courthouse to welcome and comfort her.
