A significant earthquake struck Taiwan this morning, according to the Central Weather Administration. The quake, measuring a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 11:47 AM local time. The epicenter was located 32.3 kilometers northeast of Tainan City Hall, specifically in the Guantian District of Tainan. The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 7.3 kilometers.

The tremor was strong enough to trigger Taiwan's Public Warning System (PWS). The alert, designed to notify residents of potential hazards, was activated for Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City.
