Bribery Allegations Rock Taiwan: Former Chairman Admits to Illegally Funding the Taiwan People's Party

The Taipei District Court is currently hearing the case involving the former chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, Ko Wen-je, and the Jinhua City case. During today's proceedings, former chairman of Dingyue Development, Zhu Yahou, testified that the Weijing Group used seven proxies to donate NT$2.1 million to the Taiwan People's Party. This donation was allegedly made to restore the original 120,284.39 square meters of floor space for Jinhua City.

"I committed the bribery, and I admit it. This also represents my original intention and my repentance," Zhu Yahou stated during the trial. After the court session, he remained silent when questioned by the media, only offering a respectful bow. Ko Wen-je's wife, Chen Peiqi, was also present to observe the proceedings and was seen with tear-filled eyes as she left the court in the evening.

The court is focusing on the allegations of corruption involving the former chairman of the Taiwan People's Party, Ko Wen-je, and the Jinhua City case. The core of the matter revolves around claims of illegal funding and the potential for undue influence in the approval of the 120,284.39 square meters of the floor space of Jinhua City.
