Lost and Found: Taiwan Train Conductor Discovers Fortune in Forgotten Bag

A remarkable discovery on Taiwan's railway system has captured public attention. A train conductor, while assisting in the recovery of a lost item, stumbled upon a black handbag containing an astonishing 4 million New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). This incident surpasses previous cases of found money on the railway, highlighting the high value of items sometimes left behind.

The incident began when a Vietnamese passenger reported a lost handbag on a Taiwan Railway (台鐵) local train. Following established procedures, the conductor initiated a search. The search led to a train car, where the bag was recovered. Upon opening the bag, the conductor was met with the sight of a substantial amount of cash. Due to the considerable sum, the conductor immediately alerted the railway police and handed over the money for safekeeping and further investigation.

The incident has naturally drawn comparisons to a 2019 event involving Democratic Progressive Party (民進黨) Legislator 陳明文, who left a suitcase containing 3 million NTD on a High Speed Rail (高鐵) train, sparking significant controversy. A recent post on the Facebook page "湯瑪士的日常" shared a screenshot of a Line conversation detailing the current event. According to the conversation, the train conductor, stationed in 台南 (Tainan), received a notification about a missing black handbag belonging to a foreign passenger. The handbag was located in the second or third car from the southern end of the train. Upon inspection, the conductor confirmed the presence of a large amount of cash.
