A devastating multi-vehicle collision occurred late on July 7th, around 11:00 PM, on National Highway 1 (國道1號) southbound at the 335.4-kilometer mark in Rende District, Tainan (台南), Taiwan. The accident involved four large trucks and a passenger car, resulting in a tragic outcome.

First responders from the local Fire Department, upon receiving the call, dispatched 13 vehicles and 26 firefighters and paramedics to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the passenger car, which was a white sedan, severely damaged, with its roof almost completely crushed. The driver of the sedan was extracted but was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident caused a total of one fatality and five injuries.

The injured include a 26-year-old female passenger from the sedan, who was conscious with a laceration on her forehead and was transported to National Cheng Kung University Hospital (成大醫院). Two truck drivers, both around 50 years old, complained of chest tightness and shortness of breath and were taken to a Municipal Hospital. Two other truck occupants, a 22-year-old and a 24-year-old, were initially trapped but were later rescued and sent to Sin-Lau Hospital (新樓醫院) for medical attention. The National Highway Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
