Taichung, Taiwan - A fire erupted in an apartment building on Daying Street in Nantun District, Taichung City, around 6 p.m. today, causing heavy smoke to billow from the 7th floor. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene.

Initial reports indicated that no residents were trapped on the 7th floor where the fire originated. However, the thick smoke had affected residents on higher floors, including a father and son who were awaiting rescue on the 9th floor.

Fortunately, the father and son were successfully escorted from the building via the elevator. Upon seeing her husband and son safe, the boy's mother was overcome with emotion and embraced her son tightly.

The incident occurred during rush hour, prompting the Fourth Precinct of the Taichung City Police Department to deploy traffic units to manage traffic flow and ensure clear access for emergency vehicles. Traffic control measures were implemented on roads including Shang Road, Daying Street, Dadun 10th Street, Daguang Road, and Dadun 10th Street, and Dadun Road.

In addition to the father and son, residents on the 8th, 9th floors and the top floor were awaiting rescue. Firefighters deployed a ladder truck to assist in the evacuation of the remaining residents. All three were safely rescued, although one person suffered from minor smoke inhalation and was taken to Chung Shan Medical University Hospital for treatment.
