Car Fire on Taiwan's National Highway 1 Causes Delays

On July 24th, a vehicle caught fire on National Highway 1 in Taiwan, causing significant traffic disruption. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM on the northbound lane at the 28.3 kilometer marker near Sanchong.

Reports indicate that the car began emitting smoke for reasons yet to be determined. The driver safely pulled over to the shoulder of the road before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the occupants were able to escape without injury.

Despite the lack of injuries, the incident caused traffic to back up for approximately 5 kilometers. Highway police have issued a reminder to drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant on the road.

The North Region Maintenance Engineering Division urges drivers to inspect their vehicles thoroughly before entering the highway. This includes checking tire tread, tire pressure, and the overall condition of the car to prevent accidents and ensure safe driving. Drivers are encouraged to tune into police radio broadcasts or call the Freeway Bureau's 1968 toll-free hotline for real-time traffic updates.
