Tragedy in Tainan: Couple Separated by Fatal Collision, Nurse's Swift Action

A tragic incident unfolded in Tainan, Taiwan, following a similar event in Sanxia, New Taipei City, where a car crash resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. On the 20th of the month, a van in Tainan's Yujing Old Street collided with a couple, resulting in one fatality and one injury, leaving the family separated forever.

In the immediate aftermath, a nurse, who was passing by, witnessed the accident and, despite her own motorcycle being damaged by the collision, immediately rushed to the scene to perform CPR on the injured man, aiding in his transfer to the hospital.

The nurse recounted that her motorcycle was struck by the van, and she was unaware of the injured individuals until a passerby informed her. Upon arriving at the scene, she found the couple on the ground.

The nurse recalled that the man initially showed signs of breathing, but soon lost consciousness, prompting her to begin CPR. She emphasized that her actions were not a matter of goodwill but rather a professional obligation given the circumstances.

Surveillance footage revealed that the couple was walking along Zhonghua Road when they were struck from behind by the silver van. The wife collapsed at the scene, while the husband was thrown by the impact.

Emergency responders found that the husband had no vital signs and transported him to Madou Sinlau Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The wife sustained a fractured shoulder and head injuries but was considered to be in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 38-year-old driver felt unwell after the accident but declined medical assistance. Furthermore, the driver admitted to having a history of epilepsy. The detailed cause of the accident is still under investigation by the police.
