Audi A6 Involved in Hit-and-Run on Taiwan's Scenic Highway, Resulting in Injuries

A 36-year-old driver of a luxury Audi fled the scene after colliding with an SUV on Provincial Highway 9, but was apprehended shortly after by authorities.

A hit-and-run incident involving a luxury vehicle has occurred on Provincial Highway 9 in Taiwan, leading to injuries and a subsequent police investigation.

The incident took place at the 122.9-kilometer mark of Provincial Highway 9 on the afternoon of the 19th. A 60-year-old man, identified as Mr. Xie, was driving an SUV heading from Nan'ao towards Su'ao when his vehicle was struck by a black Audi A6, valued at approximately NT$3 million, driven by a 36-year-old man, Mr. Xu. The collision occurred in a curved section of the road.

The impact caused damage to the SUV and resulted in multiple abrasions to the hands and legs of a passenger, identified as Mr. Zhang. When police arrived at the scene, the Audi A6 had already left. Following the incident, the police started an investigation.

Law enforcement quickly located the Audi and its driver, Mr. Xu, within half an hour at a location on Suhua Road Section 2, No. 536. Breathalyzer tests indicated that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol. However, Mr. Xu has been charged with the offense of fleeing the scene of an accident and will be referred to the Yilan District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.

The Su'ao Precinct urges all drivers to maintain vigilance, pay attention to road conditions, and reduce speed when approaching curves or intersections to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
