Taiwan: Man Arrested for Alleged Attempted Murder After Violent Attack on Dentist

In a shocking incident, a man identified as Zhou Zijun has been arrested in Taipei, Taiwan, following a violent assault on a female dentist at a dental clinic on January 19th.

According to reports, Zhou Zijun attacked the dentist, causing injuries. Zhou initially claimed the assault was triggered by pain during a teeth cleaning procedure. However, authorities are investigating the possibility that the incident stemmed from a debt dispute.

Witness accounts detail the incident. A technician cleaning the air conditioning at the clinic stated that Zhou Zijun had asked about orthodontic treatment due to his upcoming military service. After the dentist offered advice and began the cleaning, Zhou repeatedly complained about the pain, before allegedly attacking the dentist.

The dentist was rescued, and Zhou Zijun fled the scene, but he later surrendered to the police. The police investigation has revealed that the dentist had recently reported threats related to a million-dollar debt, which may have a connection to the attack. Prosecutors from the Taipei District Prosecutors Office have requested that Zhou Zijun be held in detention, fearing he could collude with others or destroy evidence, as they investigate the case further.
