Tragic Accident in Kaohsiung Harbor: Truck Driver Dies After Colliding with Barrier

A tragic incident occurred in the Kaohsiung Harbor area of Taiwan on the 18th of the month, involving a serious traffic accident that resulted in a fatality. The accident involved a large articulated truck, which, for reasons yet to be determined, collided with a safety barrier.

Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 4:00 PM after receiving reports of the incident at Pier 108 within the harbor complex. Upon arrival, rescue workers found the driver trapped inside the severely damaged cab of the vehicle. The front of the truck had sustained extensive damage, making it difficult to access the driver. Efforts to free the individual were hampered by the condition of the vehicle, necessitating the use of specialized equipment to pry open the driver's side door. After 49 minutes of intensive work, rescuers were able to extract the driver.

Unfortunately, the driver was found without a pulse and not breathing when extracted from the wreckage. Despite immediate medical attention, including CPR administered for 50 minutes by medical professionals at the hospital, the driver was pronounced dead. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
