Kaohsiung, Taiwan – In the early hours of October 18th, a dramatic chase unfolded in the streets of Kaohsiung, culminating in the apprehension of a Vietnamese migrant worker who attempted to evade police. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to maintain public safety.

At approximately 0:10 AM, officers from the Sanmin 1st Precinct's traffic unit were conducting routine expanded inspection duties along Zili 1st Road. During the operation, police noticed a man walking suspiciously. When officers approached to conduct a preliminary identity check, the man fled into the surrounding alleys.

Police pursued the suspect, who, while evading capture, turned and attempted to assault the officers. In response to the immediate danger, officers fired a warning shot into the air. The pursuit ended in a parking lot near Andong Street in Sanmin District, where the man was subdued and arrested after a chase of approximately 300 meters.

The apprehended individual was identified as a 27-year-old Vietnamese migrant worker, Mr. Feng. The police are investigating his activities while he was a fugitive. He will face charges including resisting arrest and obstruction of official duties. In addition, the authorities will handle the case under the Immigration Act and the Criminal Code and the case will be transferred to the local prosecutor's office. The National Immigration Agency will handle his deportation.
