On the night of November 11th, a dramatic vehicle fire erupted on National Freeway 1 (Freeway 1) in the Sanyi section of Miaoli County, Taiwan. A recreational vehicle (RV) reportedly pulled over to the shoulder due to a suspected mechanical issue before quickly becoming engulfed in flames.

The three occupants of the RV – two males and one female – managed to escape the vehicle unharmed. Fire departments from both Taichung and Miaoli responded to the emergency call, dispatching water tankers to combat the blaze.

The fire, which occurred near the 154K mark of the northbound lane, was reported at approximately 10:54 PM. The rapid spread of the fire meant that by the time firefighters arrived, the RV was already fully ablaze. The Sanyi Fire Station, with a crew of five and two vehicles, arrived to assist, joining efforts already underway by units from Taichung's Houli and Waipu Fire Stations.

After over half an hour of intense firefighting, the blaze was brought under control by 11:45 PM. While the vehicle was completely destroyed, leaving only its shell, the quick thinking of the occupants ensured no injuries occurred. Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire, with initial reports suggesting the engine compartment may have been the point of ignition.
