Taipei Metro Mayhem: Passenger Arrested After Biting Incident

Taipei, Taiwan - An unusual incident unfolded on a Taipei Metro train on Friday afternoon, resulting in the arrest of a passenger after a physical altercation. The incident highlights the potential for unexpected events even within the seemingly routine environment of public transport.

According to reports from the Da'an police precinct, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on the Bannan Line. A 30-year-old man, identified by his last name Lu (呂), became involved in a heated exchange, escalating into a physical fight with another passenger. The altercation reportedly began after Lu was allegedly pushed in the crowded train car.

In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, another passenger, a man surnamed Wang (王), intervened. However, the preliminary investigation indicates that Lu bit Wang during the confrontation, escalating the situation further.

Authorities stated that the assailant, Lu, boarded the train at Taipei Main Station. Following the incident, Lu was apprehended at Zhongxiao-Xinsheng Station after the event was reported to authorities.

While Wang (王) chose not to press charges against Lu (呂) for the biting incident, the case has been referred to prosecutors. The suspect is currently under investigation for an alleged violation of the Social Order Maintenance Act.
