A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Chile on May 2nd, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter of the quake was approximately 219 kilometers from Ushuaia, Argentina, with a depth of about 48 kilometers. The powerful tremor was felt widely, causing significant concern among residents, and prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning.
