Taiwan is currently experiencing a period of concerning air quality. The Ministry of Environment has issued warnings regarding elevated pollution levels, advising residents to take precautions.

Specifically, the Ministry has issued a red alert for Kinmen, urging all residents to minimize outdoor activities. Orange alerts are in effect for northern, central, Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan, Kaohsiung-Pingtung, Yilan, Hukou, Magong, and Matsu, advising sensitive groups to reduce strenuous outdoor activities.

Former Central Weather Bureau Director Cheng Ming-Dian clarified the nature of the pollution on Facebook, stating that the current wave of transboundary air pollution is primarily characterized by PM10, rather than PM2.5, which is a typical indicator of sandstorms.
