Tragic Discovery: Autopsy Ordered in Taiwan After Newborn Found Abandoned

Taipei, Taiwan – April 2 – The Chiayi District Prosecutors Office has announced an autopsy scheduled for next week to ascertain the cause of death of a newborn baby found deceased outside an abandoned residence in Budai Township, Chiayi County.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities. The Chiayi County Police Department's Budai Precinct responded to a report received at 8:12 a.m. concerning a baby discovered in a box.

Upon arrival at the scene, first responders confirmed the infant showed no signs of life. Police promptly secured the area to gather evidence and notified prosecutors to initiate a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Initial findings indicate the infant was approximately 47 centimeters in length and was likely born near full term, as the umbilical cord remained attached, according to the prosecutors office.

The autopsy, a critical step in uncovering the truth, is scheduled for April 9th.
