Taiwan's Military Gets Tough: 20,000 Reservists to Undergo 14-Day Battle Drills in Upcoming Exercise

The Republic of China (Taiwan) Armed Forces are currently engaged in wargaming for the upcoming Han Kuang No. 41 exercise. Findings from these simulations will be applied in the live-fire drills scheduled for July.

According to the Ministry of National Defense (國防部), approximately 27,000 reservists will undergo the new 14-day training regime this year. During the Han Kuang No. 41 live-fire exercise in July, around 20,000 reservists will participate and engage in "full-combat" scenarios, focusing on validating 12 key training missions.

The Ministry of National Defense stated in its performance report that the plan includes increasing the number of reservists for the 14-day training to about 27,000. The Han Kuang live-fire exercise will further expand the involvement of reservists. Approximately 20,000 personnel, including reservists and regular troops, will be trained for 14 days. This will involve immersive, combat-focused training designed to validate wartime operational procedures. Additionally, the training will include developing techniques for standing, kneeling, and prone shooting positions with handguns and rifles to enhance the ability to respond effectively in live-fire combat situations.
