Protests Erupt at KMT Rally in Kaohsiung, Taiwan

A political gathering held by the Kuomintang (KMT) party in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, experienced a minor disruption tonight as a group of local leaders staged a protest.

The event, a policy briefing titled "Safeguarding Democracy, People's Rule," took place at the Wujia Longcheng Temple. Before the event commenced, a municipal advisor, accompanied by ten village chiefs, arrived at the location to express their discontent.

Police, who had pre-planned for the event, guided the protesters to a designated "opinion expression area." Here, the local leaders were given the opportunity to voice their concerns before departing peacefully.

Prior to the event, there were online rumors suggesting individuals intended to bring "lethal items" to the rally. Additionally, anticipation of protests from civic groups led the Kaohsiung City Police Department to deploy over 200 officers to maintain order and prevent any unforeseen incidents.
