Scaffolding Collapse in New Taipei City Amidst Heavy Rain

A construction site in the Zhonghe District of New Taipei City, Taiwan, experienced a scaffolding collapse on the evening of May 22nd. The incident occurred around 7:00 PM on Minle Road, coinciding with a "heavy thunderstorm" and heavy rain advisory issued by the Central Weather Administration.

The collapsed scaffolding, estimated to be approximately 10 meters long and 5 meters wide, struck a vehicle during its fall. The driver, a 50-year-old male, was unharmed and not trapped. Two other vehicles also sustained damage from falling debris, but their drivers were also uninjured.

Relevant authorities have responded to the scene to manage the situation and begin an investigation into the cause of the collapse. Details regarding the precise cause are still pending.
