Taiwan: Man Sentenced to 26 Years for Sexually Assaulting Nieces

A man in Taiwan, previously incarcerated for various offenses including sexual assault, public endangerment, and violations of the "Regulations Governing the Control of Guns, Ammunition and Knives," has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.

The man's prior convictions resulted in sentences of 3 years and 8 months, as well as 2 months, which were to be served concurrently, totaling 3 years and 9 months. He also served 1 year and 7 months for a violation of the Regulations Governing the Control of Guns, Ammunition and Knives, beginning his sentence in 2015.

Following his release from prison in 2019, and completion of the gun-related sentence in 2020, the man committed a series of horrific acts. He was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting his two nieces, despite being their uncle, demonstrating a complete disregard for their well-being.

After reviewing the evidence, the court found him guilty on 11 counts, imposing individual sentences of 4 years, 8 years, 8 years and 2 months, 8 years and 4 months, 8 years and 2 months, 8 years and 2 months, 8 years and 2 months, 8 years and 2 months, 8 years and 2 months, 4 years, and 4 years. These sentences were combined for a total of 26 years. The case is still subject to appeal.
