Fatal Highway Collision in Taiwan: 31-Year-Old Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash

A devastating multi-vehicle collision on National Highway No. 1 in Taiwan resulted in the tragic death of a 31-year-old woman. The accident, which occurred late on the night of the 7th near the Tainan Rende service area (southbound, 335.3 km mark), involved two commercial container semi-trailer trucks, two commercial heavy trucks, and one passenger car. The woman's car was crushed in the collision, leading to her immediate death.

According to initial reports, the driver of a container truck, a man named Jiang, was involved in the accident. He was among the drivers of the vehicles that crashed into the woman's car. During an examination of the body, Jiang offered his apologies to the deceased's family. He stated that he experienced a form of "鬼遮眼 (Gui Zhe Yan, ghostly interference)," and that he was unable to stop in time, resulting in the crash.

Jiang's explanation was met with intense emotional distress from the victim's family, who found the excuse unacceptable. When the deceased's 屍體 (shī tǐ, corpse) was being moved to the examination room, Jiang approached in an attempt to explain the accident. This prompted an even more visceral reaction from the family, who immediately stopped him.
