Bali Darkens: Power Outage Disrupts Tourist Haven

A major power outage plunged several regions of Bali, Indonesia's renowned resort island, into darkness on Friday. Efforts are underway to restore electricity to the affected areas, according to the state utility, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

The blackout also impacted the island's airport. However, the airport operator confirmed on its Instagram page that both inbound and outbound flights continued despite the disruption. PLN is currently investigating the cause of the outage and working to reinstate power. "The recovery process is currently being carried out gradually," stated I Wayan Eka Susana, a PLN spokesperson in Bali, in an official statement.

Social media users shared images depicting significant road traffic delays across Bali due to the outage, and long queues at airport check-in counters. Bali is a primary tourist destination for Indonesia, attracting 6.3 million international visitors last year, as reported by the island's statistics bureau.
