Taiwanese Airlines Navigate Pakistan Airspace Closure: Flights Rerouted and Cancelled

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Following the closure of Pakistani airspace, ten flights originating from or destined for Taiwan have experienced disruptions, leading to cancellations and route modifications, as reported by Taoyuan International Airport on Wednesday.

The airspace closure, announced in response to reported precision strikes by India targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, is expected to last for 48 hours, according to CNA.

China Airlines was forced to implement technical landings in Bangkok on Tuesday for several long-haul routes, including flights from Taipei to Frankfurt, Prague, Amsterdam, Rome, and London. Further impacting operations, the Taipei-London flight scheduled for Wednesday was canceled.

EVA Air also experienced setbacks. Flight BR62 from Vienna to Bangkok was compelled to return to Vienna on Tuesday, while flight BR95 from Taoyuan to Milan was diverted to Vienna for refueling before resuming its journey, according to the Liberty Times.

In response to the evolving situation, China Airlines has enacted contingency plans, emphasizing the safety of passengers and crew. Similarly, EVA Air has implemented route adjustments, including fuel stops in Vienna, and is closely monitoring developments.

Taoyuan Airport is urging passengers and individuals picking up travelers to diligently track flight statuses and verify details with their respective airlines prior to their scheduled departures.
