IDF Fighter Jet Incident: Investigation Underway After Unexpected Flare Deployment in Taiwan

The Air Force Command in Taiwan announced today that an IDF (Indigenous Defense Fighter) fighter jet, stationed at the Tainan air base, unexpectedly deployed an airborne flare during a routine training exercise yesterday afternoon. The Air Force has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and ensure flight safety.

This incident marks the third occurrence of operational concerns involving IDF fighter jets within the past month. Previously, in mid-April, two incidents occurred at the Magong base in Penghu, including a tire burst. Following these events, the Air Force temporarily suspended flight training missions for frontline fighter units to conduct maintenance checks and ground-based academic coursework.
