In a surprising turn of events in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a man identified as Chen, driven by financial difficulties, took a drastic step to acquire some quick cash. On the evening of the 17th, Chen spotted a neglected Mercedes-Benz parked along the side of the road in Zuoying District. Seeing an opportunity, he contacted a car scrapping service, learning that he could receive NT$6,000 for the vehicle.

Chen proceeded to sign an agreement with the unsuspecting scrapping company, authorizing them to tow away the vehicle. The real owner, identified as a man named Zhang, discovered his 28-year-old Mercedes-Benz, which he used as a daily driver, had vanished, and immediately reported it to the police.

The Zuoying Police Precinct responded to the report. The police investigation, which involved reviewing surveillance footage, led to the identification and arrest of Chen. The case highlights the challenges of economic hardship and the lengths people may go to when facing financial pressures in Taiwan.
