Explore Taiwan's Treasures: New Taipei Unveils Sightseeing Bus for World Masters Games!

Taiwan is gearing up for the 2025 World Masters Games, and New Taipei City is leading the charge with an exciting new initiative: a dedicated sightseeing bus in the Ruifang area! Launched on Sunday, this convenient and affordable service offers a fantastic way for visitors to explore the region's stunning attractions.

For a mere NT$49 (approximately US$1.5) per day, passengers can enjoy unlimited rides. New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) announced the distribution of 35,000 commemorative transit cards. These cards will be provided free of charge to international athletes attending the Games, which are scheduled from May 17th to May 30th.

The bus, adorned with an adorable capybara motif, provides easy access to popular destinations such as Jiufen Old Street, the Jinguashi Gold Museum, and the Shen'ao Fishing Port. Passengers can also enjoy various discounts and special perks.

A notable highlight near the fishing port is the "Capybara Rock," a newly-renamed landmark that replaces the iconic "Elephant Trunk Rock," which collapsed last year.

Currently, the bus operates on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until May 16th. During the World Masters Games (May 17th to August 16th), the bus will run daily to cater to the influx of visitors. Service will then revert to weekend and holiday schedules after the Games conclude.

The sightseeing bus offers 10 round-trip services daily, departing from Resident Square (Eastbound) between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The final return trip leaves the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology at 5:15 p.m., as stated by the city government.

Travelers from downtown Taipei can easily connect to the bus via the Taiwan Railway train to Ruifang Station or buses 1061 or 1062.
