Taiwan Police Officials Demoted After Unwittingly Attending Birthday Party with Fugitive

In a surprising turn of events, two high-ranking police officials in **Taiwan** have been removed from their current positions following their attendance at a birthday party that included a fugitive. The incident, which occurred in **Hualien** County, has raised questions about the awareness and oversight within the local police force.

The individuals affected are Deputy Captain Lu of the Yuli Police Division's Criminal Investigation Team and Squad Leader Zheng of the Jian Police Division's Criminal Investigation Team. On April 2nd, they attended a birthday celebration hosted by a civilian friend. Unbeknownst to them, a person acquainted with their friend, identified as a wanted fugitive named Que, was also present.

According to police investigations, Lu and Zheng were invited to the dinner gathering for a friend's birthday. Attendees included the principal of a school, business owners, and the fugitive. Que, the fugitive, was only present briefly but took photos and uploaded them to the social media platform Instagram with a "Happy Birthday" message. This act inadvertently provided solid evidence of his presence at the event.

The images caught the attention of the county police department's online patrol, leading to the immediate reassignment of both officers. Further disciplinary measures, including demerits and supervision, have been implemented.
