Taiwanese Rider Hits 208km/h on a Motorbike: Now Facing Penalties
High-Speed Ride on Taiwan's Highway Lands Motorbike Enthusiast in Trouble

A Taiwanese man, identified as Mr. Zeng, is facing hefty fines after posting a video online showcasing his high-speed ride on a powerful Italian motorbike. The incident, which occurred late last month, involved Mr. Zeng exceeding the speed limit by a significant margin on Taiwan's Provincial Highway 74.
Mr. Zeng was captured on video riding his Aprilia RS 660 Extrema, a red-plate *重機* (heavy motorcycle) valued at 600,000 NTD, at a staggering 208 kilometers per hour. This speed far surpassed the designated speed limit for the highway section in Xitun, Taichung. The video of the daring ride was subsequently uploaded to the social media platform Threads.
Following an online patrol, the police took action, issuing a fine and potential penalties. The penalties for the violation include a potential fine of up to 36,000 NTD and the suspension of the motorcycle's license plate for six months. Authorities are reminding all road users in Taiwan to strictly adhere to posted *速限* (speed limits) to ensure safety and avoid legal repercussions.
