Tragic Incident at Taipei Metro: Young University Student Dies After Falling onto Tracks

A devastating incident occurred yesterday evening at the Fuzhong Station of the Taipei Metro in Banqiao District, Taiwan. A 23-year-old woman, identified as a student at National Taiwan University (NTU), reportedly climbed over the platform screen door as a train was entering the station. She was struck by the train and tragically died at the scene. Emergency services were called, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An examination by prosecutors this afternoon at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital revealed the cause of death to be fatal injuries to the head and abdomen. Family members have expressed no objections to the cause of death.

Reports indicate that the victim was a married NTU student in her fourth year of studies. She resided in Taipei City with her husband. The young woman had a history of emotional instability and had previously sought medical treatment. She had traveled from Taichung to Taipei earlier in the day. She boarded the metro at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station, transferring to the Bannan Line at Ximen Station before reaching Fuzhong Station, where the fatal incident occurred.
