US Customs Announcement: Electronic Goods Exempt from Countervailing Tariffs
Easing Trade Tensions and Potential Relief for Taiwanese Tech Manufacturers

The United States, under the administration of Donald Trump, has announced exemptions from countervailing tariffs on smartphones, computers, and other electronic products. This move is expected to mitigate the price impact on consumers and benefit major electronics manufacturers, including companies like Apple and Samsung.
According to a Bloomberg report, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced on November 11th that products such as smartphones, laptop computers, hard drives, and computer processing and memory chips will be excluded from the 25% tariffs imposed on goods from mainland China, as well as the 10% baseline tariffs levied on products from almost everywhere. This decision offers a moment of relief for Taiwanese technology companies.
