Taiwan Welcomes Lee Ju-eun: A Cheerleading Star Set to Shine in 2025

Taipei, Taiwan – Get ready for more! South Korean cheerleader, Lee Ju-eun, a beloved member of the Fubon Angels who performs for the Fubon Guardians in Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), is set to entertain fans in her home country during the 2025 season. This exciting news was confirmed by Fubon Sports & Entertainment Co. on Thursday, delighting fans across the island.

Fubon stated that Lee Ju-eun's ventures outside of Taiwan are welcomed, as long as she continues her performances in Taiwan, in accordance with her agreements with Fubon. The company reassured fans that she remains a treasured member of the Fubon Angels, the Guardians' cheerleading squad.

Fubon Sports & Entertainment emphasized that they have an exclusive management contract with Lee Ju-eun, covering all her commercial activities within Taiwan. However, this agreement does not extend to her engagements overseas.

The announcement came after the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) revealed Lee Ju-eun's addition to their cheerleading squad. This news initially sparked concern among her Taiwanese fans, who worried she might no longer be cheering at games in Taiwan.

Lee Ju-eun is one of three South Korean cheerleaders currently with the Fubon Angels. Their presence has significantly boosted the team's popularity. The Guardians experienced a 30% surge in ticket sales for their season-opening series, compared to the 2024 season, according to the franchise.

Lee Ju-eun signed with Fubon in January, making history as the first cheerleader to join a Taiwanese franchise under an exclusive management contract. At a March press conference, the agency hailed this deal as "a milestone in Taiwan's baseball industry."

Rumors circulated that Lee Ju-eun's contract was worth at least NT$10 million (US$304,925). However, Fubon Sports & Entertainment President Joyce Chen (陳昭如) denied the specific figure without disclosing the actual amount.

Now 20 years old, Lee Ju-eun began her cheerleading career in 2023 and quickly gained fame in 2024 while cheering for the KBO's Kia Tigers. A viral video, which amassed over 93 million views on YouTube, showed her calmly applying makeup courtside before performing the "strikeout dance."

In July 2024, Fubon invited Lee Ju-eun and other Kia Tigers cheerleaders to Taiwan to cheer for the Guardians during a special weekend series at the Taipei Dome.

Since then, Taiwanese fans have been eagerly anticipating the recruitment of Lee Ju-eun by CPBL teams, as South Korean cheerleaders continue to grow in popularity within the league.

Lee Ju-eun follows in the footsteps of other Korean cheerleaders who have worked in both countries. Lee Da-hye, who paved the way for Korean cheerleaders in the CPBL, frequently traveled between the two countries during her debut season with the Rakuten Monkeys in 2023.

Lee Da-hye's success, both on the field and in commercial endorsements, marked a new era, inspiring more Korean cheerleaders to pursue careers in Taiwan. Cheerleaders in Taiwan enjoy significant recognition and exposure.

In May 2024, Lee Da-hye shared that she had rented a home in Taiwan and was considering purchasing property, highlighting the strong ties being built between Korean cheerleaders and Taiwan.
